Daily living and life skills

Build the everyday skills that matter to you

Learning to do more for yourself can open up your day, your choices and your confidence. Our support to build daily living and life skills is practical and hands-on, and it always starts with the things you want to be able to do.

We work alongside you at home and out in the community, so the skills you build fit your real life across Ballarat and surrounding areas in regional Victoria.

Skills we help build

Practical skills, learned by doing

Everyone's goals are different, so we build the plan around what you want to be able to do. Here are some of the skills we often help with.

Cooking and meal planning

Plan meals you enjoy, shop for what you need and cook safely, from simple snacks to a full dinner.

Budgeting and money

Get comfortable with everyday money, from paying bills and tracking spending to saving for the things you are working towards.

Using public transport

Learn routes, read timetables and travel with growing confidence, so getting around is one less worry.

Managing appointments

Keep track of appointments, set reminders and prepare for them, so you feel ready and in control.

Shopping

Write a list, find your way around the shops and handle the checkout, building independence one trip at a time.

Confidence and routines

Build daily routines that work for you, and the confidence that comes from doing more on your own terms.

Our approach

You do more for yourself, at your pace

This is capacity building: growing your skills over time so you can rely on support a little less and on yourself a little more. In your NDIS plan it is often funded as improved daily living. There is no rush and no set finish line. We start where you are, break bigger goals into smaller steps, and celebrate the wins along the way.

1

Start with your goals

We talk about what you want to be able to do, then turn it into clear, doable steps.

2

Practise together

We support you hands-on while you learn, then step back a little more as your confidence grows.

3

Do it your way

Over time you take the lead, with support there for the parts you still want a hand with.
